Health & Safety
No worries! Health Canada takes several exhaustive steps to ensure that all Licensed Producers of cannabis meet strict production & packaging safety standards. All cannabis product received at Cann Shop must meet these strict guidelines, ensuring high quality & safe consumption.
Ideally, you want to store your cannabis in a cool, dark & dry space. Intense lighting, heat & especially moisture will quickly affect the cannabinoids of your cannabis. Therefore, it is recommended to use dark glass containers to prevent damage from UV rays.
If stored in ideal conditions, as indicated above, your cannabis should stay fresh for up to 6 months.
No! There is no clear science for any amount of cannabis consumption that would be safe for a pregnant mother or when breastfeeding. Cannabis use during pregnancy is linked to several negative health consequences including low birth weight & brain development issues.
Alcohol – No! Consuming both cannabis & alcohol is associated with several possible negative effects. Most acutely, it can lead to the ‘spins,’ which is a feeling of extreme intoxication, dizziness & nausea. Trust us when we say it sucks. The combination of the two substances has also been associated with increasing the risk of vulnerable people experiencing psychotic symptoms. Decreased concentration & reaction times are another negative effect.
Tobacco - It is well established that tobacco consumption on its own has severe negative health effects including increased risk of lung disease & several types of cancer. People who combine cannabis & tobacco consumption are subject to the same health risks
In a nutshell, avoid cross-contamination & sharing your cannabis products with others. COVID-19 (ie the Coronavirus), has been associated with spreading via respiratory droplets from breathing, coughing or sneezing. It can also be spread via surfaces including the skin, or any shared items like joints, grinders, vapes, bongs etc. While these are precautions one should take any time you are sick, it is especially important to be extra vigilant during this pandemic. Therefore, our best defence is to wash your hands often with soap & water, & try your best to avoid touching your face, nose, eyes or mouth. It is also recommended to practice social distancing & keeping at least 2 metres (think 1 hockey stick) away from each other at all times.

According to the Cannabis Act, the maximum legal amount of cannabis you can purchase at one time is the equivalent of 30g of dried cannabis flower. Health Canada has created a system that defines equivalency for non-dry flower consumption methods that you can check out online. Confusing, right? Well don’t worry about it because we’ve made this math automatic for you! Regardless of whether you are buying in-store or via our Online Click & Collect service, our system will automatically calculate each item’s dry flower equivalency as you add items to your cart.

Cannabis affects everyone differently and there is no formula to figure out how you will react exactly. But you can look at things like family history, height, weight, mental health, and usage to give yourself an idea of how you will react! With that being said, it all comes down to the product, the method of consumption, and you!
These are two abbreviations that stand for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), two of cannabis’ main active compounds. CBD is often derived from hemp to ensure low levels of THC that make it ideal for relaxing and unwinding. THC on the other hand is often derived from cannabis which gives you that “high” feeling. While CBD can also be derived from cannabis it does mean the levels of THC may be higher making it not ideal for the typical CBD consumer.
Sativa, Indica and Hybrid are terms used to describe the different cannabis plant types. Most obviously, each of them is distinctly identifiable just by the way they look. Sativa plants are tall, with long and thin leaves. Indica plants are short and bushy with wide, dense leaves. Hybrids, as the name might suggest, is a bit of a combination of both, taking their physical traits from their lineages. While some have suggested higher THC levels in particular plant types, this has yet to be proven conclusively.
Terpenes are naturally occurring chemical compounds found in plants and they add the amazing flavour and aroma profiles you see on the market today! These aromas the plant produces plays a key role in your cannabis experience; you can often learn about product terpenes on the LP’s website! The more insight you gain into how cannabis works for you as an individual consumer brings you closer to figuring out which terpenes work best for you!
